Telerehabilitation is a rapidly growing area of oncology rehabilitation.
Telerehabilitation may include any rehabilitation intervention that is delivered remotely via technology and may include the use of :
- Telephone
- Videoconferencing
- Mobile apps
- Wearable devices
Telerehabilitation is safe and feasible to be delivered in a cancer setting. Patients report high satisfaction engaging in cancer telerehabilitation.
Key advantages include:
- Less travel
- Better compliance with exercise programs
- More comfortable and convenient
- Ability to access services where they may otherwise not
Most telerehabilitation programs that have been evaluated have been in a 1:1 setting. However, there is increasing use of telerehabilitation being conducted in group settings.
